Today we were greeted with a surprise. The host families arranged for many of the Americans to go on the Sunday tour together. Although we were only away from one another for 24 hours, you would have thought we assembled for our 5 year reunion. The day was filled with the history of the Temple, the bridge, and then acres and acres of beautiful pear trees. I will send pictures to give you a flavor of the day.
Tomorrow, I will be introduced to 2,500 students grades 7,8 and 9, along with faculty and staff. I have worked very hard to give my first few lines in Mandarin. I feel that is important and respectful . We are on our way back from the tour, and when we return......we eat again. The amount of food at each meal is enough for 15 people, but only eight sit at each table. I eat less at home and gain weight, they eat a huge amount of food and have no weight problem......go figure.
Ed, the blog is amazing. I just got caught up on your last 2 days. Keep the pictures coming as they really paint a nice visual to your words. On many occasions I wish I could be there with you to experience some of this but for now I will live through your experiences. Can't wait to hear more. Jason
